RTSC Age Groups – London Regional Championships_1 (Sessions 1-4)

Hot on the heels of the Youth Champs, this weekend brought Town’s strongest 11-14 year old swimmers to the London Aquatic Centre. The pressure was on, as competitors from across London hoped to maintain / gain a place in the National rankings. 14 year old Amelia Moule got things off to a fine start as she claimed gold medal in the 800n Freestyle in a time of 9.41.81.

London Regional Youth’s Championships at the LAC

The bank holiday weekend wasn’t one of rest for RTSC’s older swimmers as they were competing in the annual London Regional Championships.  The early start on Saturday morning was the beginning of a special weekend for 15 year old Emily Milton, taking silver medal in her opening event the 400IM.  Older sister Georgia just missed out on a medal finishing in 4th place. Redbridge and Colchester Combined Gala Report

The junior squads headed off in two different directions again this weekend. Success came aplenty at both destinations; just as well given it was Mothers’ Day!

Colchester saw some of our youngest, and newest, competitors reap great rewards. Millie Hosler (10) kicked off the medal tally with a silver in the 100m Butterfly. 11 year old Victoria Dreleva also claimed silver whilst 13 year old Olivia Witton collected bronze. The boys picked up 4 medals in the same event: silver and bronze respectively to 9 year old team mates Oliver Smith and Dillon Brecht. 10 year old Enzo Fulton claimed a silver as did 13 year old Luke Marney.

Essex Age Group Championships – Block C


The final block of this year’s county championships took place at Basildon Sporting Village, kicking off with the tough 400m Individual Medley. 12 year old Louis Lane and 14 year old Lewis Binning set their bars high from the start each claiming a gold medal and the event best time. Daniel Gencas produced a PB to collect bronze and in the 16 year age group Joe Groves collected the gold medal for his efforts.

Essex Age Group Championships – Block B


Block B of Essex brings both ends of the spectrum; 50m sprints at the London Aquatic Centre and the gruelling 1500m Freestyle at Basildon Sporting Village.

The sprints produced medals for Town across all four strokes, including the 4×50 Medley Relay where the 9/10 year old girls comprising Ella Kilby (back), Codie McSheffrey (breast), Lexie O’Connor (fly) and Sophia Moule fought hard to collect themselves a silver medal. The individual sprints also produced great results: 15 year old Aaron Wilson claimed silver in the 50m Freestyle and 14 year old Amelia Moule collected her first medal of the day, starting off with a gold in the 50m Freestyle. 14 year old Lewis Binning and 12 year old Louis Lane battled in the 50m Backstroke, claiming a silver apiece. Binning then demonstrated his strength by claiming gold medal in the 50m Butterfly, where Joshua Eguakhide produced a fine PB to take a hard fought bronze. James Rowell earned himself the silver medal in the 16 year age group of the 50m Backstroke.
