James Gibson raises team morale during lockdown

 

Romford Town swimmers currently on lockdown away from the pool were extremely lucky to receive a morale boost from one of the world’s top coaches, James Gibson MBE.  Youngsters aged 8-22 yrs joined a motivational chat via video-phone link with him last week.

*Coronavirus update*_Club activities suspended

Following the Government announcement to close leisure facilities in order to reduce the spread of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we have no choice but to take the following action.

 

  • All Romford Town club activity has been suspended with immediate effect (20/03/2020 – 6pm). This includes all squad training sessions and the learn to swim programme.

 

These are unprecedented times and we kindly ask that you remain patient with us while we work with the governing bodies to find a solution to our swimming predicament.

We sincerely hope that you all keep safe & well in these uncertain times and we will endeavour to provide updates as soon as we are in a position to do so.

Romford Town had lots to celebrate at the final weekend of this years Essex Championships, with three of its swimmers finishing as top points scorers in their respective age groups.  Seventeen year old Amelia Moule had her fourth consecutive win as Top Girl and Daniel Gencas won Top Boy for a second time both taking the Open age group award.  Victoria Dreleva had her first win as Top Girl, achieving success in the 15 yr old category.

Romford Town were off to a flying start at this year’s Essex Age Group Championships.  Day one was at the London Aquatic Centre where the fastest swimmers in the pool were decided as the 50m sprint events took place.

Romford Town held its annual `Non County Qualifier for swimmers developing their skills and also as a warm up for next week’s county championships.  Clubs from all over Essex, Kent and London attended Romford’s Sapphire and Ice Leisure Centre for some red-hot performances in the pool.  Town’s racing skills were definitely on view and improving with so many good performances.  Overall its swimmers came away with 45 . . . . . .

Romford Town Swimming Club travelled to Wales this weekend for their first long-course meet of the season, as a warm up to the county competition later this month.  They were competing at Cardiff International Pool in the City of Cardiff Welsh Capital Open Meet.
