Sapphire Leisure Centre was the venue for this year’s Memorial Gala for David Jacobs.  For those of you that are new to the club David was a talented, national swimmer with RTSC for many years.  David’s mum Jan always supports this annual memorial gala in David’s memory.

The weekend started with the boys 400IM where 11 year old……

Raheel Mahmood claimed gold in 5.47.70, 12 year old Lewis Jarrett claimed silver, 13 year old Connor McCarthy took silver in 5.13.95, 14 year old Luke Marney claimed bronze in 5.38.32 and 15 year old Joseph Frost came 5th in 5.36.23.

Lexie O’Connor (10) collected gold in the 200IM with Rebecca Coogan taking bronze.  Ella Kilby (11) picked up bronze, Millie Hosler (12) silver, Nicole Vassileva (12) bronze, Magdalena Yordanova (13) gold and Lauren Braxton (15) silver.

The boys 100m Backstroke produced silver for Baris Muratoglu (10), silver for Denis Drelev (11), bronze for Dillon Brecht (11), silver for Mark Rigo (12), silver for McCarthy, gold for Marney, bronze for Tyrese Thompson (14) and silver for Frost.

Ruthie Eguakhide (9) claimed bronze in the 100m Freestyle, O’Connor another gold and Coogan a silver.  Town’s 11 year old trio comprising Sophia Moule, Codie McSheffrey and Alex Giles claimed gold, silver and bronze for their efforts.  Yordanova took another gold with Samara Hamilton (13) taking bronze.

Muratoglu picked up a gold medal in the 200m Breaststroke, as did Jarrett.  Mahmood took silver and 15 year old Robert Moncur claimed a bronze.

Coogan claimed a gold for her efforts in the 200m Butterfly, Kilby took bronze, 12 year old Tierney Rooney claimed gold, with Vassileva taking bronze.  Braxton collected a silver.

Muratoglu medalled again, this time in the 50m Butterfly taking silver.  Mahmood claimed another gold, Drelev a bronze, McCarthy a bronze, Vaughn Dooley (16) a silver and Joshua Eguakhide (15) a bronze.

Ruthie Eguakhide picked up a bronze in the 50m Breaststroke, McSheffrey a bronze, Hamilton gold, Yordanova bronze and Madeleine McCormack (16) a silver.

Mahmood dominated again in the 200m Freestyle to collect another gold, Jarrett claimed bronze and Marney picked up a gold.  Town’s girls showed their strength and talent in the 400m Freestyle: O’Connor claimed another gold, Kilby a silver, Michelle Vassileva (11) a bronze with big sister Nicole claiming a silver.  Rooney picked up bronze in her age group, Victoria Dreleva (13) claimed a gold and Braxton a bronze.

Muratoglu claimed yet another gold medal, this time in the 100m Breaststroke.  Drelev claimed bronze, McCarthy silver and 15 year old Aidan Fernandes a silver.

11 year old Aida Morter claimed silver in the 100m Butterfly with Coogan taking bronze.  Braxton claimed a bronze for her efforts.

10 year old Connor Jarrett picked up a bronze in the 200m Backstroke, as did big brother Lewis.  Mahmood collected another gold, Enzo Fulton (12) a bronze, Marney a silver and Frost a gold.

Ruthie Eguakhide swam to a bronze medal finish in the 100IM, Coogan dominated to take gold, whilst Charlotte Marshalls-Child (10) claimed silver.  Moule and Hosler both took bronze.  McCormack led the way to take gold with Braxton collecting silver.

50m Freestyle silver went to Mahmood, Thompson picked up bronze as did Joshua Eguakhide.  The girls wrapped day 1 up with the 50m Backstroke with Coogan collecting bronze, Moule silver, Hosler silver and Rooney a bronze.

The girls started day 2 with the 400IM where Morter smashed it to take gold.  Kilby claimed bronze whilst Nicole Vassileva and Emilia Jopson (13)both picked up gold medals.

200IM gave Muratoglu a silver, Mahmood a gold, Lewis Jarret a silver, Marney a bronze, Nathan Banga (15) gold and Frost bronze.  100m Backstroke saw the girls take medals aplenty: Coogan silver; Moule (11) gold; Elsie Fuller silver; Hosler (12) Silver; Constance Kennedy bronze and Isabelle Jopson (15) gold.

Muratoglu picked up silver in the 100m Freestyle, Brecht bronze, Jamieson McLaren (12) bronze, McCarthy gold.  The 14 year old boys dominated to take a 1,2,3 finish courtesy of Marney, Thompson and Lukas Birmantis.  Banga took silver and Joshua Eguakhide bronze.

O’Connor held her form to take yet another gold medal, this time in the 200m Breaststroke.  McSheffrey claimed bronze, Nicole Vassileva bronze, Yordanova silver, Holly Hagan (14) gold, McCormack gold and Braxton gold.

Mahmood claimed yet another gold in the 200m Butterfly with Marney taking bronze.  Ruthie Eguakhide claimed silver in the 50m Butterfly, O’Connor yet another gold, Moule a silver, Hosler a silver and Isabelle Jopson a gold.

50m Breaststroke gave Muratoglu a bronze, Lewis Jarrett a silver and Connor McCarthy a silver.

200m Freestyle finished the gala off with Ruthie Eguakhide taking silver and Alice Sharp (9) bronze.  Morter picked up silver, McSheffrey silver, Michelle Vassileva bronze, Nicole Vassileva silver, Hosler bronze, Hagan silver, Braxton gold and McCormack slver.
