The boys started the weekend with the 200IM with 9 year old Baris Muratoglu taking gold, 11 year olds Raheel Mahmood and Lewis Jarrett taking……
gold and bronze in the 10-11 age group, with Joseph Frost (15) and Luke Marney (14) taking gold and bronze in the 14-15 age group. The girls started with the 100m Backstroke where 11 year olds Lexie O’Connor and Ella Kilby claimed gold and silver.
The boys’ 50m Freestyle gave Muratoglu gold number two, with Jarrett taking bronze. The girls50m Breaststroke gave Ruthie Eguakhide a silver in the 9 year old age group and Samara Hamilton (13) a silver in the 12-13 years age group. The boys’ 200m Butterfly saw Connor McCarthy (13) take a gold in the 12-13 years age group. Codie McSheffrey (11) claimed gold in the 200m Breaststroke in the 10-11 age category.
Muratoglu made it a hat trick of golds, this time in the 100m Freestyle. Jarrett also picked up a gold medal, whilst Frost claimed silver and Vaughn Dooley (17) took bronze in the 16 and over age group. Mahmood claimed gold in the 400m Freestyle with Jarrett in silver medal position. Jarrett then went on to take the gold in the 50 Backstroke with Oliver Smith (11) collecting bronze. Marney and Dooley took bronzes in their respective age group.
Eguakhide took silver in her 50m Butterfly, whilst Alexandra Giles (11) claimed a bronze in the 10-11 age group. The boys’ 200m Freestyle gave Mahmood another gold medal whilst 12 year old Jamieson McLaren took bronze in the 12-13 age group. Marney claimed a well earned gold with Frost in silver medal position.
Mahmood claimed yet another gold medal, this time in the 100m Breaststroke. Mark Rigo (12) took bronze in the 12-13 year age group. Eguakhide claimed a silver in the girls’ 200IM with O’Connor taking another gold medal win.
The boys’ 100m Backstroke gave Smith the win, Marney silver and Dooley bronze. Eguakhide medalled again – this time bronze in the 50m Freestyle. Muratoglu also picked up another medal; a silver in the 50m Breaststroke, with Mahmood claiming another gold and Rigo taking bronze.
The girls’ 100m Butterfly gave Michelle Vassileva (11) a bronze in the 10-11 category. In the 200m Breaststroke Mahmood claimed gold again. O’Connor took silver in the 100m Freestyle, whilst Jarrett took gold in the 100m Butterfly and Frost claimed silver.
Vassileva took gold in the 400m Freestyle. Mahmood took gold in the 400IM and Jarrett the silver, before claiming gold in the 50m Butterfly. Dooley also took gold in a PB of 28.18. Mahmood kept the golds coming, this time in the 200m Backstroke where Smith claimed silver behind him. Eguakhide finished the weekend off for Town chalking up another medal: silver in the 100m Breaststroke.
Assistant Head Coach Wojtek Slusarczyk commended the weekend’s swimming saying “The last chance meet is always a great opportunity for swimmers to get those much desired County times – many have done so today. Acknowledgment and praise must also go to those swimmers who may not yet be at County standard, but continue to work really hard in training, gaining valuable experience and personal bests at event like this. Keep up your commitment to training and your hard work will pay off.
