Lewis Binning wins Plaistow Trophy at ASA annual Swimming awards

Friday 17th November saw Rayleigh Golf Club and Spa play host to Essex ASA’s annual swimming awards ceremony.

Our very own, 14 year old Lewis Binning, was amongst those to receive awards.  Lewis won the Plaistow Trophy for the male “Outstanding Performance of the Year” award, presented to him by Richard Whitehead, President of Swim England.

Lewis is in good company for the award; over the years many Town swimmers have been on the receiving end of it:  Daniel Coombs in 1994/95 and Stan Clark in 2003.  The equivalent female trophy went to Elena Sheridan in 2011, Amy Marren in 2012 and 2014 and Holly Hildrew in 2015.

Lewis wins this award on the back of receiving the Top Male Award at the recent London Regions Wint er Champs.  Massive congratulations to Lewis.  Keep up the good work.
