Romford Town held its annual `Non County Qualifier for swimmers developing their skills and also as a warm up for next week’s county championships.  Clubs from all over Essex, Kent and London attended Romford’s Sapphire and Ice Leisure Centre for some red-hot performances in the pool.  Town’s racing skills were definitely on view and improving with so many good performances.  Overall its swimmers came away with 45 . . . . . .

Gold, 36 silver, and 18 bronze and a great deal of best ever times.

Tumininu Makinde 9, had another success-packed weekend with 7 golds – her first coming in the 200m backstroke, followed by the 50m and 100m breaststoke, the 50m, 100m freestyle the 100m IM and 50m butterfly.  She also won silvers in 100m butterfly, and the 200m free where she finished in 2nd place behind team mate Lois Smith who won the gold and who also won a silver in the 50m breaststroke.

Ruthie Eguakhide 10, only had eyes on gold as she won all her events  – her first also coming in the 200m backstroke, followed by the 100m and 200m butterfly, the 100 IM and finally 200m freestyle.

The boys also had a great weekend led by Oliver Smith 12, who took 4 golds in  200m 100m and 50m freestyle,  and 200m backstroke Smith also came away with 2 silvers in the 100m and 200m IM.

The Jarrett brothers were again on form with Connor 11, winning 4 golds in the 50m fly and freestyle, 200 IM and 100m breaststroke.  He also picked up 4 silvers and 3 bronze for a grand total of 11 medals in one meet.  Lewis 13, took 3 golds in 200m butterfly and freestyle and the 100IM

Tierney Rooney 13, used the opportunity to swim some individual medley races , winning the gold in 100m and 200m, as well as 200m freestyle.  Rooney later won silvers in 200m and 50m Breastroke, and 100m freestyle, plus a bronze in 100m Breastroke.

Sisters in sport Michelle and Nicole Vassileva came home with a hat-full of medals between them, Michelle 12, with 2 golds, a silver and a bronze and Nicole 14, with 2 golds, 3 silvers and a bronze.

Triple gold medallist Ella Kilby had 3 great swims winning 200IM the 200m freestyle and 50m breast and a silver in 50m freestyle.

Towns other multi-medal winners for the meet included Aida Morter 12, Millie Hosler  13, Findlay McLaren 11,  Enzo Fulton 13, Daisy Beenham 10, Caleb Judd 11,  Sophie Long 9,  Lexie O’Connor 12,  Connie Kennedy 13, Ryan Dooley 12, Max Dooley 14, Dimana Rachevets 11, Eloise Kilick 12,  Baris Maratoglu 10,  Dillan Cronin 9,  Charlie Rogers 12, and finally Jessica Smith.
